Hizbullah’s secretary general, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, criticized Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir's statement a day before the parliamentary elections, reassessing the whole electoral process and vowing to follow up on the numerous electoral law violations in a peaceful and legal manner.

Sfeir, and in a clear violation of the electoral law that forbids any electoral statement within 48 hours before the elections, had said on the eve of the June 7 elections that Lebanon will face a threat to its entity and Arab identity should the opposition win.

Addressing Sfeir, Nasrallah said: "I did not see how Lebanon's entity would have been threatened had the opposition won the elections", adding that Sfeir’s statement is even more dangerous that the legitimate obligation that they accused us of.

He demanded an explanation from the patriarch on how the opposition’s victory would have threatened Lebanon's Arab identity and asked him:"Is the opposition more dangerous than Israel?".

Nasrallah was speaking during a ceremony honouring Hezbollah’s electoral machines in Mount Lebanon, Beirut and the North; in the televised speech which was broadcasted live on Al Manar television late Wednesday, Nasrallah nominated Berri for speaker of the new parliament and criticized the racist speech against The Armenians and Shiites Lebanese citizens and reckoned that he will keep the door open for the negotiations regarding the government formation.
